Nomadiskulls and Facebook

I have created the first couple of the season of the Nomadiskull masks. Their names are Hugo and Hazel and they will be for sale on Etsy in a few weeks along with other masks that I have yet to make. Here’s a picture, but please visit my Flickr account under the links bar to see more views of them.
Also I’m having difficulties with the Facebook page for Nomadical Skate and Art Works. I cannot get into it to update it or add photos. I’ve addressed the problem to Facebook, but I have yet to hear or see any solution to the problem. I think I’m going to cancel the page once it allows me back in and allow followers to join my personal profile. I’ll make an announcement when that time comes.

November 2011

Hello out there,
I had a really great exhibit this past October at MOTR pub and it looks like I’ll be showing there again next year. Thanks to all who came and supported the exhibit through out the month and a special thank you to Chris Shadler for inviting me to show work there and also Mike Montgomery for introducing MOTR to my work. I’m hoping to do something new for next year but I’m not going to give anything away just yet.
I spent a couple weeks away traveling in Guatemala which is absolutely beautiful. Now that I back I feel inspired and refreshed to begin new artwork and tattoo work. I’m going to paint a few Nomadiskulls and I’ll have them up for grabs at my Etsy store. I wanted to add that for those interested in masks I encourage you to check out Dreadful Falls USA, http://www.dreadfulfallsusa.com/. Dreadful Falls makes beautiful headdresses and hair pieces that look great with my masks. I am going to have to invest in one of their pieces to go with my own mask. Please take a look they are all handmade and beautifully crafted.

I’ll be adding prints and some paintings to the store as well. Please take a look towards the end of the month. That is all for now.

MOTR Pub Art Opening

Friday, September 30, 2011

MOTR Pub  1345 Main St. in Over The Rhine, Cincinnati Ohio

Join us at the opening reception featuring skateboards and fine art paintings by Robyn Roth otherwise known as Nomadical on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 6pm.  The exhibit coincides with the Final Friday Art Walk in Over The Rhine.  Robyn’s art will be on display through the month of October, 7 days a week during business hours.

I hope to see you there!

Marc Chagall Tattoo

I do not get many requests for fine art pieces like this as most people tend to go for Japanese inspired art or American Traditional tattoo art.  This was a nice change and it’s going to be a sleeve.  Marc Chagall isn’t a very popular choice in tattoo land so this will be somewhat unique when it’s completed.  I am looking forward to the path ahead.

MOTR Pub Art For Sale.

Here is a listing of what will be available at MOTR pub on opening night, Friday September 30, 2011.  The exhibit runs through October 25, 2011 and all art sales are a first come first serve basis.  Most of my work is painted on wood, but I did make two pieces where I glued thick Arches paper onto and painted on it from there.   I will also have sold pieces on display, so anything that you see in the show that isn’t listed here has already been sold and is on loan to me only for the exhibit.  I thought by posting what I have available now will help those interested in buying see the cost ahead of time.  I will not accept holds over the internet on any of my work.  You must attend the exhibit to purchase the art.  I hope you all can make it.  Flyers coming soon!

Egg

Egg pays tribute to the positive swastika symbol.  The piece is paper glued to a wood panel.   If you don’t follow my blog please read the previous post, “The Factory” regarding swastikas.  I am not a nazi nor does this have anything to do with the nazi’s.  I even hate having to state that, but people get weird and accusations fly.  Please educate yourself before making assumptions about the type of person I am.   I hope you all like this one.

The Factory

After one failed attempt at painting a skateboard I am happy to report that I made up for it with this new creation.  It’s titled, The Factory simply because it’s about the cycle of life and how everything feeds off each other to exist.   You might notice the moth in the upper right or the board has an interesting wing pattern.  I incorporated the swastika as a symbol of life, which is what it was intended to mean before Hitler ruined it.  I am in no way making a statement of hate or racism as this is an ancient symbol used by some Native American tribes, Hindu’s and Buddhists.  You can read more about the swastika here,  http://history1900s.about.com/cs/swastika/a/swastikahistory.htm  or here http://www.religionfacts.com/buddhism/symbols/swastika.htm

I see the swastika much like a see the spiral of a snail shell.  The spinning cycle of life and the importance of diversity in order for everything to survive.  There is no one central power, but an infinite number of lifeforms that hold earth together. What does a human heart have to do with all of this.  As always the heart is my portrait for humanity in which I am trying to bring us (people) back to the idea that we belong to this cycle too.  We are not controllers or gods we are another link in the circle of life.  Am I making earth happy art?  Perhaps I am, but I am not ushering in a war for the environment as I feel it is a loosing battle due to politics, population and most of all greed.  I am however looking for my soul in all of this and it always goes to what this skateboard shows.  Enjoy.

A Koi Fish for Rapture Day

The Chef

A friend of mine let me design this for him.  I incorporated his zodiac symbol, Leo with his talents in the art of food making.  Thanks Taylor for letting me tattoo this!

Bye-bye bitch

It’s nice to turn something horrible into something positive.
